Research Associate / Sr Associate - Analytical, Irvine area, CA
Schedule/Shift: 1st shift, Mon.-Fri. Any scientific staff member
can expect to work overtime, including during the weekends.
Off-site seminars and conferences, as well as, off-site meetings
with clients and regulatory agencies, are a usual occurrence.
Occasional overnight travel by land and/or air may be required.
Job Summary: The Process Development Scientist / Sr. Scientist will
assist in developing analytical methodologies for protein
biologics. The primary focus of the Analytical Process Development
Scientist / Sr. Scientist will be to develop HPLC, LC-MS, CE,
Cell-based and/or ELISA methods. The Scientist will work under the
guidance of the VP, analytical scientists, and with process
development scientists to identify and characterize protein
biologics. This position may also interface with the Quality
Control as methods are transferred into that group for cGMP
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tasks to support the development,
optimization, validation and routine testing of protein
therapeutics via physical (HPLC, CE, LC-MS) and functional
(Cell-based, ELISA) protein characterization techniques.
- Proven experience with analytical method development using
bioanalytical techniques including spectroscopy, binding affinity,
SDS-PAGE, chromatography, ELISA, cell-based, HPLC and/or mass
- Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following: HPLC,
Mass Spectrometry, ELISA, Cell-Based Assays, Binding Kinetics (i.e.
Biacore / ForteBio).
- Document method development and validation activities according
to current practices.
- Participate in training analysts on new methods and transfer
methods to cGMP Quality Control lab, as necessary
- Transfer methods to cGMP Quality Control lab, as necessary.
- Ability to work in a high paced team environment, meeting
deadlines, and prioritizing work under general supervision.
- Write development and qualification reports documenting data
- Maintain good laboratory notebook and follow cGMP documentation
- Provide regular updates to Process Development department.
- Masters / PhD degree or equivalent in terms of experience and
proven capabilities in Science, Engineering or a related
- Related experience in pharmaceutical processes or research
product development experience.
- The number of years of previous experience required is
dependent on the level that is assigned.
