Founder, Virgin GalacticYour Mission Virgin Galactic is seeking a
talented and motivated Associate Guidance, Navigation, and Controls
Engineer. The focus of the role is developing and testing the
flight control system and associated components, such as flight
control computers, actuators, and sensors. The responsibilities
will span the entire lifecycle, from conceptual design to flight
test and commercial operations. The ideal candidate will have
academic and project experience designing and testing control
systems or avionics systems for rockets and/or
aircraft.Responsibilities
- Design and test fly-by-wire flight control systems for various
vehicles
- Define flight control system architecture, modes, and behavior.
Participate in requirements capture and validation for flight
control system.
- Develop specifications for flight control actuators, actuator
control electronics, flight control computers, and sensors.
- Model current and future systems for simulation and
analysis.
- Develop Simulink models from which flight software is
generated.
- Design fault tolerant system architectures using system safety
analysis.
- Participate in system and component test and integration.
- Real-time monitoring of system performance during ground and
flight test.
- Collaborate on control law design and implementation. What You
Bring Educational Requirements:
- Must have a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or
Electrical Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
Knowledge/Experience
- Modeling, simulation, and analysis experience using Matlab
and/or Simulink.
- Hands-on experience with electronics, electromechanical
systems, and/or software on aircraft or rocket systems.
- Basic knowledge of flight control systems, flight test or pilot
experience beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. As part of
