Founder, Virgin GalacticYour Mission Virgin Galactic is seeking a
talented and motivated Senior Systems Engineer who will be
dedicated to work in the Propulsion group for development of next
generation Propulsion System for existing and future Spaceships.
The scope of the project with respect to Systems Engineering is to
capture the definition of the Propulsion System throughout its
lifecycle. Specifically, the work will entail responsibility for
all Systems Engineering deliverables regarding planning,
architecture, requirements, interface control, validation &
verification, integration, and qualification. The Senior Systems
Engineer will work with both mechanical and electronic sub-systems
for the Propulsion System. The ideal candidate will have at least
8-10 years of experience which includes working with both
electronic and mechanical systems.Responsibilities:---Development
of Engineering Management Plans, Tasks and Schedules---Development
of System Verification Plans, Qualification Plans, Integration
Plans---Development of Concept of Operation
Specifications---Development of Architectures, Requirements,
Interface Control Documents at Vehicle, Sub-Systems, and Assembly
levels of definition---Validation of Requirements---Development and
Review of Validation, Verification, and Integration Test
Procedures---Conduct an RCCA; Identify Proximate, Intermediate, and
Root Cause; Make Corrective Action Recommendations---Identification
and Execution of Trade Studies---Identification and Assessment of
Risks---Support RFI and RFP development and executionWhat You
BringEducational Requirements:---Must have a B.S. or M.S. in an
Engineering discipline from an accredited
universityKnowledge/Experience:---Must have a mature understanding
of Systems Engineering process and interfaces and interactions
between Systems Engineering and Multi-discipline Engineering
Teams---Must have a deep understanding of requirements development
and requirements management---Must have a deep understanding of
physical and functional architecture development---Must have a deep
understanding of SAE ARP-4754A, SAE ARP-4761, DO-178C, DO-254,
DO-160, as well as industry standards for Mechanical Systems---Must
have an understanding of rocket propulsion---Must be able to read
and comprehend schematics and mechanical drawings---Must be able to
operate with minimal supervision when assigned an intermediate
problem or provided a general problem statement for a complex
problem---Must be able to justify decisions with available
information and to achieve buy in from peers---Must be able to
Independently own a sub-project; influences and negotiates with
team-mates---Must possess advanced knowledge in at least one
discipline. Finds and implements strategic data structures and
algorithms; authors, reviews and improves requirements and
designs.---Must be able to actively share knowledge, share
resources and informally teaches peers and juniors; Innovates
measurable improvements---Must be capable of building and leading
effective cross functional teams---Helps others be successful in
daily work. Proactively communicates with others and has good
presentation skills---Organizes and plans own work and that of
other team members---Can be counted on to meet commitments and

professional developmentProfessional Requirements:---8-10 years of
experience specific to Systems Engineering integration or testing
experience in aerospace or similar field---Strong experience in
developing Systems Engineering documentation---Strong experience in
integration, validation & verification of Avionics and Mechanical
Systems---Strong experience in Engineering Management Plans and
Development Plans---Strong experience in developing schedules for
execution of Systems Engineering work---Strong troubleshooting,
organizational, and written communication skillsCovidAs part of our
