Your Mission

The Head of Talent Acquisition will report to the Executive Vice President, People and Organization (Virgin Galactic Holdings' human resource executive leader), and will be accountable for leading and overseeing the design and execution of talent acquisition/recruitment strategies to attract, evaluate and hire exceptional talent throughout all areas of the company, including the company's senior leadership. In addition, the person will partner with the Director of Diversity, Equality and Belonging ("DEB") in our efforts to evolve and achieve our strategic diversity and inclusion efforts internally and externally. The person will be responsible for leading a team of direct reports while establishing guiding principles and leading initiatives that competitively position the company for growth and meet the company's short and longer-term needs.

  • Be solutions oriented with a growth mindset and drive initiatives for creative candidate generation to ensure a broad, diverse pipeline is available to meet the needs of the business
  • Lead a global talent acquisition team, ensuring a strong recruiting mindset focused on candidate experience, diversity, timeliness and quality while meeting the Company's hiring volumes
  • Accountable for the full candidate experience up through the onboarding process of the new hire
  • Create and define a sourcing strategy while developing processes for better operational efficiency
  • Develop and deploy the key performance indicators (KPIs) and report to ensure optimal time to fill and quality of hire metrics
  • Develop action plans to implement the strategies and measures for assessing strategic progress in areas such as Talent Acquisition and DEB
  • Provide leadership tools (e.g. dashboards, presentations, etc.) to assist with measuring progress

Responsibilities

  • Promote diversity in the workplace and ensure recruiting strategies are in place to attract diverse candidates
  • Create and define a sourcing strategy while developing processes for better operational efficiency with buy-in from the business and functional leaders
  • Develop and deploy the key performance indicators (KPIs) and report to ensure optimal time to fill and quality of hire metrics
  • Manage a team of direct reports that supports the development and implementation of the infrastructure and associated programs to drive impact while embodying the ideals of a values-based culture within our company's mission
  • Provide reports and metrics in support of the organization's external and internal talent acquisition initiatives, including the return on investment of programs on internal career mobility, associate referrals and social media recruitment
  • Implement, measure and monitor metrics that impact the company's employer branding strategies
  • Act as a strong partner to business leaders to provide consultation on talent acquisition strategies and challenges
  • Develop effective working relationships with leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Introduce new and/or improved methodologies for attracting, assessing and selecting the best talent
  • Provide the organization with time-sensitive performance metrics and seek feedback regarding the effectiveness of the talent acquisition team
  • Provide direction and consultation to the management team on strategy and emerging talent trends in the market
  • Ensure that the recruiting function is capable, streamlined and well-aligned with the vision and goals of the organization
  • Build a data-driven recruiting organization, including analytics that provides insight and decision support
  • Manage employer branding, job site optimization, and innovative candidate sourcing strategies
  • Provide leadership and guidance around continuous improvement initiatives and an eye for streamlining processes within talent acquisition and HR-related work
  • Drive both short-term and long-term talent resource planning including recruiting capacity planning to balance our internal hiring resources to ensure the right resource allocation to support the business

What you bring

Basic Qualifications

  • Ten to fifteen years of talent acquisition and management experience, particularly building a high functioning global talent acquisition team
  • Five-plus years of experience devising and leading talent strategy in a fast-growth environment at the Director or above level
  • Bachelors (or equivalent) and MBA/advanced degree is a plus
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Proven success building recruiting and talent acquisition programs with detailed reporting metrics that illustrate and document the team's capabilities and accomplishments
  • Experience working in small or large companies that have a fast-pace, agile work environment with a focus on diversity and inclusion sustainable efforts
  • Kind, empathetic, humble, direct, mission-driven, flexible, influential with a very high degree of personal integrity including the ability to manage sensitive or confidential information
  • A good listener who focuses on the root causes of issues, listens to understand, and makes connections between qualitative and quantitative information
  • Occasional travel is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • A passion for retaining and developing a best in class team of recruiters
  • Experience creating a healthy employment brand leveraging social media, marketing and other platforms
  • Experience and proficiency in project and change management
  • Possess strong business acumen and experience working with and recommending creative recruitment tools, technologies and platforms to enhance process efficiencies
  • Strong experience in workforce planning, forecasting and developing, while ensuring appropriate resource plans for the recruiting function
  • Effective and persuasive communicator, both oral and written, with exceptional emotional intelligence
  • Experience in handling confidential, often highly sensitive information
  • Some flexibility in your schedule although we value work/life balance, although the position does require being available on weekends and after-hours
