Your Mission at Virgin GalacticThis Senior Executive role leads
the Project and Chief Engineering team responsible for the
technical leadership on all Virgin Galactic vehicles and equipment.
-As a member of Virgin Galactic's senior leadership team, this role
ensures Virgin Galactic has a world class engineering -to support
the diverse portfolio of aerospace programs. You are directly
responsible for the talent management and program assignment of
Virgin Galactic Project Engineers and Chief Engineers. This
position privides coordination across the Engineering functional
groups to support program and operations staffing resource
requirements, technical leadership and recruiting, department
budgeting, and developing and retaining a world class team. This
leader has an unwavering commitment to successful engineering work
execution delivering true value to our company and team.Establish
Engineering department functional staffing strategies to support
program development, modifications, operations, and IRADsDevelop a
coherent, collaborative and engaged engineering leadership team
where team members support each other and do not act in silos.
Identify succession plans for all key leadership positions.Coach:
attract, develop, mentor, performance manage and retain
high-performing engineering professionals to ensure Virgin Galactic
is well placed and ready to support existing and future projects.
Grow the engineering team as required to support -Virgin Galactic's
portfolio of current and future programs. Identify rotations for
engineering staff that enhance their professional
development.Working with the People team, maintain an effective and
clear engineering organizational design. Adapt the organization as
necessary over time in line with personnel changes, program
requirements and company direction.Establishment an implementation
of standards for engineering personnel technical performance
Development of department performance efficiency
improvementsCollaboration with programs and operations in
generating and providing mid-year and annual performance
reviewsLead annual budget development to ensure proper internal
department, program, and operations resourcing.Participate in
non-advocate reviews to advise programs on risk, mitigations, and
opportunities.Empower discipline leadership with budget
responsibilities. Help program managers with accurate budgets for
engineering tasks defined by program scope.Lead by example with
respect to straight-up, transparent and open communication (up and
down) relative to engineering team performance - timely
transparency on issues, minimizing surprises. Ensure Virgin
Galactic has a sound configuration management system for all data,
analysis and models through toolsets such as PLM, Engineering
Review Board, Change Control Board, Model Based Definition, change
logs and naming conventions. Ensure all engineering staff are
adequately trained in the configuration management
systems.Coordinate and communicate regularly with Program
leadership to ensure individual program and operations needs are
being met by engineering.Develop and present for approval the
annual Engineering budget (operating and capital). Empower
discipline leadership with budget responsibilities. Help functional
departments and program managers with accurate budgets for
engineering tasks defined by program scope.Encourage a culture
where engineers follow their design, analysis or work product
through its full lifecycle (i.e., analyze, design, build, test,
operate) to provide excellent support and maximum learning
opportunities for the responsible engineer. Work with Legal and
Compliance, motivate the engineering organization to identify and
capture Intellectual Property (IP) developed to strengthen Virgin
Galactic's IP portfolio. Assist with desired IP protection measures
and applications.Work with the senior executive team, assess new
business opportunities and assist with bids and proposals
development from an engineering perspective.What You BringB.S
degree in Engineering or ScienceMaster's degree in a relevant
technical field or in the area of management or business is highly
desirable.Must have at least 15 years of total industry experience
with a minimum of 5 years leading functional organizations in
support of program operationsWorks independently with considerable
freedom for independent action Ability to create and inspire high
performance teams Maintains the highest ethical standards Maintains
a passion for performance excellence and is results driven Displays
business savvy and a bias for action Collaborative and always
transparent executive partner Demonstrated knowledge of program
management principles, tools and procedures for measuring
project/program success.Demonstrated ability to lead and empower a
team of subject matter experts in varying technical

management.Solid leadership and management skills.Knowledge and
experience with AS 9100 a plusThe annual U.S. base salary range for
this full-time position is -$173,400.00-$277,350.00. The base pay
actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge,
skills, location, and experience and take into account internal
equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may
be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a
full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on
